American Idol: Goodbye Melinda Doolittle :-(

When I saw the voting results on American Idol this evening, my jaw nearly hit the floor. Don't get me wrong, I think all three remaining contestants are very talented. I just always thought Melinda would win. Throughout the season, I have been so impressed by Melinda's fantastic performances and down-to-earth personality. She is an incredible talent and deserves a fantastic career.

Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks square off next week...I like them both, but I've decided to hold my final judgement until next week when I hear them sing one last time.

-in utter disbelief, I remain Rick Rockhill

I share your utter disbelief on this one! But in a way, it might be better for Melinda not to the the American Idol. She's clearly the best singer of the season but I think she might be suited more for an adult contemporary career rather than that of a pop princess. I would hate for her to have to modify her style to fit the AI mold. I will buy her records no matter what and I think she's going to have a great career anyway. In a way, she didn't need to win. She's already a star.
