Today Kitty Carlisle Hart died in her New York home at the age of 96. Starting in 1932 Kitty had a successful career as an actress, singer and in later years a spokeswoman for the arts. I remember her best for having been a regular panelist on the television game shows "To Tell the Truth" and "What's My Line". As a kid I used to love game shows, and for some strange reason I always liked Kitty Carlisle. Maybe it was her name or her sense of humor that caught my attention, who knows, but I always listened to her answers when the camera went to her. Kitty became a tireless advocate for the arts, serving 20 years on the New York State Council on the Arts. In 1991, she received the National Medal of Arts from the first President Bush.
