It's a great room with cozy chairs, a nice leather sofa, deep red walls and rich chocolate brown moulding and accents. The bust on the pedastal above is from the Victorian era, which I acquired from an estate sale in the Cotswolds area of England.
I'm sure it's no surprise to you that the Library is filled with books, but it also has a well stocked wine rack with glasses ready to be filled at a moment's notice! I find the Library to be the perfect place to read the newspaper, dig into a good book, or to just relax with a cup of tea or glass of wine. I thought I'd share a few pics of some books, along with random related quotes. I hope you enjoy this sampling...

Are you serious? That's your library? A room with red walls, brown leather sofas, filled with books and wines? I would never leave. The only real difference between this and my dream library room would be that mine needs to have really high ceilings and one of those rolling ladders. And I wouldn't mind an antique leather sofa, but I like yours too.
ReplyDeleteHi Bettina- Yes, its really my library. Thanks, I find it soothes the soul...
ReplyDeleteI'm with Bettina. Maybe she and I could quietly sneak in and take over the place. I bet you wouldn't even notice, as long as we promise to be very, very quiet, as one is wont to do in a room such as you describe.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite shelf is the "Bit of everything" shelf. Everything from decorating to Steven Covey to Dan Brown to Age Erasers for Men. I love it!
Hey - is that Dallas book about the place or the television program?
A great collection of books, thanks for sharing. I wanted to also say thanks for participating and voting in my Soda-Club contest. I got this link from Autumn Blue.
ReplyDeleteI am sponsoring a brand new contest starting in July. It will be on my blog The BenSpark and the contest is open to anyone, no matter where they live. I hope that you can participate.
I MUST ask you what color red that is and brand. The color is perfect. The reds I have tried failed miserably. You have a diverse stock of books. Many of mine lean toward architecture.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Books and wine, what more does a person need?
ReplyDeleteRed is a very stimulating color. That's the color of my dining room.
Great library. Looks very comfortable. All it needs is a fireplace.
ReplyDeleteJ.
what a fun room. nice book collection. I usually read a book a week myself.
ReplyDeleteeverytime I read one of your posts I think to myself...who is this man? Is he for real? I would love to "pick your brain" about life experiences you have had. I bet they would be pretty interesting.
ReplyDeleteHow cool of you to allow us inside....to see, to experience, to feel....the library! Looks like a great place.
ReplyDeleteLove your library Rick. Thanks for letting us take a peek inside. My favourite shelf would have to be the Classics. I'm currently reading Dan Brown's DaVinci Code. It's hard going! I'm a Gemini and love books! It goes with my starsign.
