On a recent Sunday I decided to sneak onto the construction site and check out what's been happening. I walked deep into the center of the development, with just my camera in hand. Foolishly I forgot to bring water, and while the walk out wasn't too bad, by the time I was finished taking photos and had turned back, I was already overheated and dehydrated. Fortunately I found a cactus and was able to cut it open for some moisture. (OK I made up that last part- I was hot as hell but I managed to walk home with no problems. Anyway, here are the photos I took of the new Avalon golf course that is being born before my eyes.
Above: What will be the 10th, 11th and 12th holes
Above: The future starting tee...
Above: I really can't tell what this will be yet, but our mountains are so beautiful in the distance.

That sounds really hot! The photos are great...it must be interesting to live in an area of such contrast.
ReplyDeleteIt will no doubt help with the property values, which in turn will have an effect on the real estate taxes. :-(
ReplyDeleteIt's unfortunate though, for the type of weather conditions existing, the amount of water that will be used to keep the greens "looking green." And hopefully the soils will be firm enough to prevent run-off and erosion.
Great photos!
Ummm... I'm afraid I'm with Mark Twain on this one: "Golf is a nice walk spoiled." ; )
ReplyDeleteYour mountains are beautiful, and you really had me wide-eyed when you said you cut into a cactus for some water!
Best regards from 78 degrees F ~
Cool pics Rick.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words on mine. I'm back on all 3 sites, oh and I live by the sea, but I know what you meant! Thanks again.
