Rick's Roadshow: Baltimore, Maryland (Day 2)

Thursday was my second day in Baltimore. I was in meetings for work most of the day, but I was able to break free sometime after 5:00 to go exploring. Believe it or not, I used the satellite navigation to make my way around to find various spots in the city. I realized how little I knew about this city, and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed exploring it.

Above left: Great restaurants with character & above right M&T Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens

Above: Babe Ruth's birthplace and Museum...I thought this was pretty cool.
Baltimore is a city of contrasts...above left: some modern art near the Baltimore Convention Center & above right, some old clocktower...no idea what it was but I liked the contrast of old and new here...
I also found nifty areas like this cool looking pub (above left) and this office (above right) with the retro image in the left window. Tomorrow morning I fly to Las Vegas, where I will be through Sunday. The Roadshow continues...

    Yes actually Bee, I did have some crabcakes as an appetizer before dinner and they were SO DELICIOUS! If you do find out about tha clocktower I would apreciate the info!

    I did'nt know Babe Ruth was born in Baltimore, cool pictures again.
    I went to Las Vegas two years ago and was surprised at how small this city actually is. Loved every minute over there, enjoy your stay! And if you gamble and actually win a lot, send me a plain ticket ;)

    Good pics! I have a much better image of Balti than I did before. I recall visiting a friend in Oxford, Maryland and he tried to keep me away saying how dirty and unsafe it was. Oxford is on the Chesapeake Bay and seems like an out of the way quaint place where everyone's door is open or unlocked. Robert Morris Inn had the best crabcakes.

    The clock tower is the Bromo Seltzer Tower - one of my favorite buildings there. It looks like you were also down at Fells Point - If you had wandered around you would have seen the facade of the police station from "Homicide."

    I don't miss Baltimore. I lived in Maryland for 10 years and am glad to be back in Richmond.

    Did you know that an entire busload of tourists got robbed many years ago sitting in their tour bus in front of the Edgar Allen Poe House?
