Dinner at Copley's on Palm Canyon

Saturday night we went to dinner at the renowned Palm Springs restaurant, Copley's on Palm Canyon. The restaurant is the former home of Cary Grant, who lived in Palm Springs and was known for lavish parties. We arrived a few minutes early, so we enjoyed a glass of wine by the fire pit. We were dining with family this evening, and Greg, the co-owner of Copley's had selected the perfect table on the outdoor patio for our group of five. Situated under a massive ficus tree, and adjacent to a lion's head fountain, it was the ideal setting for a casually elegant dinner outside. Chef Andrew Copley creates the most dazzling menus to tantalize the pallet; it's difficult to decide which one entree to order.
Above: as a starter, I had the "Untraditional Wedge Salad" with Organic baby lettuce, grape tomatoes, olives, marinated mushrooms, cucumber, blue cheese crumbles and a creamy garlic-herb dressing.
above left: Kobe Beef topped with Lobster Claw, and above right: Ahi Tina topped with Tiger Shrimp on Wasabi mashed potatoes. Both were magnificent.

above: An amazing dessert: Chocolate-macadamia nut tart with homemade hazelnut chocolate ice cream.

above: Copley's has a great ambiance and atmosphere. It's my favorite restaurant in Palm Springs.

  2. LOL -Tod's comment sounds a bit more like where I might "dine" but boy, this place sounds gorgeous for atmosphere but the foods you showed looked and sounded really enticing too. Now, get me a winning lottery ticket so I can make a trip to California and check it out for myself!

  3. Do you know what is amazing? Any of these dishes can be made relatively easily. I have a very limited budget, but I could make these, minus the Kobe beef and lobster claw ;) That's just a little bit out of my budget!

My 12 year old saw this and she says she wants to meet you. She wants to be a chef and she wants to "talk food" with you. I love it. I can have a terrible budget and she figures out how to dress it up and decide on good dinners.

Have you ever met Martha Stewart? (She asked me to ask you!)

  4. I'm glad that salad wasn't named, 'Untraditional Wedgie Salad.'

I'd like to write the menu description for the beef entree.
"Surf And Turf Combines Forces In An Ultimate Battle To Delight Your Tastebuds!" Coming soon to a dinner plate near you.

  5. tea- I've not met Marta yet...but one of thee days I'm sure I will! I love to cook, I'm a "foodie" and like to experiment. Being creative in the kitchen is a great outlet for me. Even on a budget, the kitchen is one place a person can easily make magic!

  6. If I went Copley's, I would never get up from the fire pit. I love drinking by a fire. Really I just love drinking period. Not bad portion sizes.

  10. Amazing, I'm sure, to sit in Cary Grant's house! Wild times. The salad looks fantastic.....I'm afraid I'd have to pass on the meat and fish dishes, as good as they look. I love the things you're involved with, the places you eat, the activities you do.
