Palm trees are the subject of this week's Sunday Art Review. Palm trees have long been of interest to artists. Rows of palm trees line main streets and dot pristine golf courses throughout the valley. The texture of the trunks and ridges on the fronds provide artists with interesting patterns and light effects, particularly in the glow of the afternoon sun. No two artists interpret palm trees the same. These images are directly from the Palm Springs Art Museum as part of a silent auction underway. Here is this week's installment of the Sunday Art Review: A Study in Palm Trees:

I hope you enjoyed these paintings as much as I have.

Wow, those paintings are gorgeous! Palm trees provide quite the intricate design and challenge to an artist.
ReplyDeleteKey West Rocker is a perfect display of relaxation, warm weather, and gentle breezes. Without showing much, it is very suggestive; I like this one!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday ;o)
I love them all, specially the expressionistic color domination of the first one!
ReplyDeleteIn India we have a lot of coconut palms, lining our coastal areas & the southern plateau ! :)

ReplyDeleteI think I like the first picture "Canyon Palms" the best. It is so surreal and striking.
I like the close up quality of "Key West Rocker" The horizontal wood siding juxtaposed with the vertical elements of the palm fronds and chair slats make an interesting composition.
ReplyDeleteDo I sound like I know a lot about art?
Hi five on posting beautiful artwork AND names/titles this week. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite it the Key West Rocker. I love Key West. And I like Rockers...seems like a no brainer to me. :)
Awwwww I could sit and look at these for hours...of course that might have something to do with the fact that I haven't seen grass in MONTHS!!! lmao
