Frivolous Friday: Similar But Different...

Today's topic for Frivolous Friday, is "Similar But Different". I tend to be a person who notices (and relishes) the subtleties in life; often times it's the little details that can make all the difference. Did you know that your two thumbs aren't the same? Take a close look at them sometime, they are not both just thumbs- in fact they are unique in some subtle way. This is just about taking a moment to notice more things in life. The following photos are a collection of things from around the house that at first glance may look the same, but in fact are quite different. So this post is intended train your eye to starting looking for things that are similar, but different.

above: Similar, but different: Two China Plates

above: Similar, but different: Two Bowls from Mexico

above: Similar, but different: Two Palm Tree Plates

above: Similar, but different: Two book ends
above: Similar, but different: Two Chinese figures
above: Similar but different: Two French Eggs with painted Irises
So this weekend go ahead and try to find things around your world that are similar but different. You may end up seeing a lot more than you ever realized.

  1. Great post, thanks for sharing, not only the beautiful objects in your photos, but your eye for detail. Details do matter!
    Have a great weekend.

  2. I never noticed that about my thumbs being different. I thought one was the mirror (reversed) image of the other.
I change a little every day. I'm similar but different than I was yesterday, or a year ago.
    I'm content being a matching set though. I do match, don't I?

  6. I know what you mean, there are so many things like this out there that we take for granted. As a side note, I like those plates with the palm trees, where did you get them??

  8. Ooh this is like being on my art history course again...

First place when you wake up to start on "similar but different" would be the face, which in everyone is asymmetrical, just more so in some than others!
