How silly of me. I realized yesterday that I've been overlooking pure comedy from someone who leaves comments that typically just get deleted. This person is what I would consider a Nitwit. A Ninny, or a Nincompoop. In case you are wondering, here is how dictionary.com defines each of those terms:
Nitwit a slow-witted, stupid, or foolish person. Synonyms: fool, blockhead, dolt, dunce, booby.
Ninny: a fool or simpleton.
Nincompoop: a fool or simpleton.
Doubtless some of you have your share of such witless wonders. In the case of this blog, it is one fool who is either so enamored by me or secretly loves the content of this blog that they visit regularly and leave foolish comments. Or should I say hateful comments. I think they are quite amusing actually, but I delete them none-the-less. As I delete them I wonder to myself, doesn't this person have anything better to do in their life than read blogs they dislike? It reminds me of those ultra left wing nut jobs who listen to Rush Limbaugh and scream and yell- when in fact they should just change the channel. Even my friend Cher agrees with me on that. With all the millions of blogs out there I am flattered that anyone even takes the time to read this blog- especially those who claim to hate me. In fact it means even more that someone who hates me continues to read this blog. So for those of you who are friends of this blog, thank for your continued support and friendship. And for that nitwit/ninny/nincompoop who likes to leave negative comments, I sincerely thank you for the continued visits here, I always welcome visitors, they help drive site traffic metrics.
What are you TALKING about? You don't delete any of my comments! They all get through! Are you saying there's ANOTHER nitwitted nincompoop? *sigh*
ReplyDeleteRhodester- Hee Hee Dave, nope not you my friend. While you are one wacky guy, you're a friend here! There are a few hidden messages within this post for the intended, just to rile things up a bit.
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Rhodester... great one!
ReplyDeleteI got scared for a moment... Looked at the photo and thought you took up knitting... I was laughing and shaking my head at that... just don't picture you knitting.
Have a great day, Rick!
First-how can anyone hate YOU? You're fascinating, kind, creative, smart...charming. I mean, really? What can they hate? They must be a miserable soul, sadly.
ReplyDelete2nd, I love the word "booby". I actually had a very close friend growing up whose last name was Bubie said like booby and it always made us chuckle. Yes, even as adults. :)
Last, I'd like to just marvel at the fact that people who hate a certain point of view still continue reading, listening and participating. That's the beauty of being able to make your own decisions.
i cannot imagine anyone not loving you honey! what is wrong with this "person"? not to worry, the rest of us love you for sure. i have had several over the years and don't care to have any more.

the absurdity of it all...just makes me laugh. what a great perspective you have!
ReplyDeleteI have a few more synonyms: dolt; moron; idiot; misanthrop; malcontent; miserable SOB -- I could go on -- I use to teach an SAT prep course!! :)
ReplyDeletenicely said Kathy!
ReplyDeleteGood to see that you're still doing this, Rick. Impressive blog as always. I started back at Palm Springs Daily Photo about a month ago. http://palmspringsdailyphoto.blogspot.com.
ReplyDeleteI also write http://101quickandeasysecrets.wordpress.com.
Hope you can take a look.
What? You have got to be joking! You have to be one of the nicest, most polite, coolest dressers, food critic and purveyor of all things neat, cool and hip there could possible in the blogosphere. How the hell could someone in good conscience slam you? Send 'em to my place if they wanna see something worth slamming -considering my disjointed, rambling writing there -and that's just for openers! Tell that commenter what they can do, sideways too.
ReplyDeleteI never said I hated you! My biggest "beef" with you is the advocating of breeding pure-bred animals. When there are so many animals in shelters there is no need for anyone to breed. You were/are a leader in the pet industry and I realize that you really can't say one way or another the one you prefer, but it still is sad that someone of your caliber chose to buy a pure-bred rather than adopting a dog. I was an adoption counselor for many years, so I am a BIG advocate for this practice. Again, never said I hated you...I don't hate people...just the things people do sometimes. And I loved the "friend Cher" comment, I know that was directed towards me, lol!
ReplyDeleteLooseKnitterGuy.Com- This is first time I've published your comment. I respect your point of view and how you stated it. More important to me, however is that you correctly picked up on the subtle reference within this post (Cher). That tells me that I think you get my sense of humor. I really don't take myself too seriously and part of what I write is poking fun at myself with being over-the-top on some things here. My online character is somewhat of a caricature just for fun. I recently met a Blogger friend and she said to me that she always sensed I wasn't someone uppity or snobby- it told me that she get's the point of my blog.
ReplyDeleteYou noticing the Cher reference suggests that I think you may get that too.
I'm happy to share divergent views here, and welcome difference opinions.
Thanks for today's comment. It inspired me to schedule a topic on rescues and shelters on a future radio show.
I've had some horrible comments on my military wife blog. I don't know why, but people feel to really unleash every single stereotype they have about the military on mine. Not very many, but they're usually 1. Women; 2. WAY liberal; 3. Not well read; 4. Don't see themselves as judgmental.
ReplyDeleteI do delete them, choosing not to give them "air time" since most of them refuse to sign their names. I did have one that kept coming back. Finally, I published her cookies, her server and she went away.
Glad that LooseKnitterGuy and you are "talking". The world doesn't need any more negativity than it already has.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't think it's me, because I haven't been around for weeks - I've been ill in bed! I'm much better now, so I'll try to come around more often. I can't promise my comments will sparkle with wit and/or intelligence, but I'll endeavor not to be a nincompoop. *grin*
