Well of course it has to start with iced water, preferably with a slice of fresh lemon from the yard. Or for a bit of flavor, fresh brewed iced tea...
And of course, "the pause that refreshes", there is nothing like a Coke, especially in a glass bottle. But an ice cold beer hits the spot!
Now for the snacky things....soft serve ice cream is tops on the list...or for a more grown-up taste, some ridiculous creation from Cold Stone Creamery is even better!
And if I'm trying to be good, I'll hit Jamba Juice for one of their fruit smothies.
And back when I was a kid growing up in Rhode Island, the local summertime treat was Del's frozen lemonade. Oh how I wish we had Del's here in Palm Springs. This is merely an ode to my childhood then, and nothing to do with this post.

Icecream and icetea...yummy:)
ReplyDeleteI never could get into beer, but the rest looks delish!
ReplyDeleteOne thing about living in Humidville for most of my life is that when I find myself in a place with dry heat, it feels like heaven! Oh, to not have my shirt stuck to my back with sweat!
The lack of condensation on glassware is just weird, though. ;-)
Enjoy your dry heat-- seriously!
I stick with the iced water with lemon most of the time. Or sno cones! Pink grapefruit sno cones are great. :)
ReplyDeleteCoke really is refreshing, even if it's just psychological.
ReplyDeletewhy sir, what about a mint julip?
ReplyDeletesmiles, bee
Tons of water, even without ice. Diet Coke (which, I know, is actually a dehydrant......), and one of my favorites is cold salads. I love them!
ReplyDeleteThe Coldstone Creamery has one of my favorites....i can't remember the name....but it's cake batter ice cream, chunks of yellow cake, dark cherries, almonds. Man, it's good. And fattening too.
This post just made me hungry!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog ;)
Southern Belle reporting in sir...
ReplyDeleteWatermelon
Fruit Juice frozen Ice pops
Crab, Shrimp or Lobster salad.
Back in the day, it would have been ALL About the Blue Bell ice cream...but I'm no longer in the Blue Bell service area. So sad! But I do enjoy a nice lemonade.
ReplyDeleteRight now, I'm sort of stuck on this brand of organic -ade called Santa Cruz. Raspberry-or-strawberry lemonade, limeade...all very good!
you're making me too hungry!!
ReplyDeleteI love that frosty looking mug/glass of beer..too bad it's only 11;41 here..or I'd be on that like bees on honey.
Always,
crusty~
I've been told...the surface of the planet Venus literally looks like what we mortals consider 'Hell'...
ReplyDeleteThis is what Palm Springs feels like in the summer.
'The Palm Springs sirens beckon you through heat wave mirages as the white hot flames lick at your feet through the golf course greens.'
I read that once.... in some cheap detective novel about a murder in 29 Palms.
Now that you've stirred up my thirst and appetite, I have to choose what would be best. Do they still "bottle" Coke?
ReplyDeleteI like to mix fresh squeezed lemonade with iced tea. It is the double whammy of refreshment.
ReplyDeleteAlso a fashion summer tip. Keep your head covered. You can realy regulate your body temp with a fantastic hat! Plus you can hide an ice pack under there if needed.
Cold Guinness every time or iced coffee if it's not to be alcoholic!
ReplyDeleteOh my, all those drinks and cool snakcs look just delectable! I am ready to move to Palm Springs NOW!
ReplyDeleteNOOOW!
How about you and I keep each other cool, even amidst all that hot heat we'd generate togetha?
;)

ReplyDeleteLook at these ice cubes!
The heat there sounds oppressive! And I thought we were having a hot summer here in Colorado.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is gin and tonic, lots of ice, lots of lime. Of course, water is much more healthy!
Iced tea, water, otter pops (so good on a hot day, cuz if they melt, you got cold juice in a tube), egg salad, chicken salad, seafood salad, green salad, and cold cereal, all good meal options in the summer in Arizona.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite cold stone thing is, chocolate ice cream with brownie, macadamia nut and sweet cherries mixed in and put in a waffle bowl.
Um, you totally dissed vodka, man. Vodka is always good.
ReplyDeleteAnd who thinks Corky should take a drug test?
i am all about lemon water for sure. in our house we are also big fans of frozen grapes. they are a nice cool snack on a hot day.
ReplyDeleteI love Ice Cream like mad... unfortunately, it fell in love with my ass and so we had to break up. We occasionally have a 'booty call' though ;)
ReplyDeleteI am on Popsicles right now. I am so addicted to them!
ReplyDeletelol I bought the kids a bunch of freezies to keep them cool. I think I am eating more of them than the kids are...lmao.
