We had some snowfall in our mountains this past weekend. This is my idea of snow. I like snow, but only around 8,000 to 10,00 feet , but not lower! This is my view of the snow-covered San Jacinto Mountains, here in Palm Springs. Several people e-mailed me this past week asking for ideas about spending Christmas in Palm Springs. If you have snow below 8,000 feet and are already over it, why not come to sunny Palm Springs for Christmas. Relax at a spa, shop for bargains at the outlets, or huge diamonds at Tiffany's. Check out the Christmas Show at the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies, or visit the casinos. Quaint churches, exquisite golf, super-private resorts, ultra-chic mid-century modern boutique hotels. Go ahead, get away from it all and come to Palm Springs for a care-free, relaxing Christmas. What about Christmas Dinner, you ask? Well here are a few perfect places to consider. As a reminder, with everything on my blog, this is NOT a paid post, just me sharing...
above: Spencer's At the Mountain
above: Spencer's at the Mountain's fabulous patio
above: Copley's on Palm Canyon has the best patio dining in the desert!
above: Johannes has more contemporary cuisine
above: the legendary Melvyn's at The Ingleside Inn-you may see a star or two...
above: the fun Mister Parker's at The Parker Palm Springs
above: traditional dining at Riccio's Restaurant. There are plenty of other places, to suit every budget. So if you are whining about the cold and snow, do something different and celebrate Christmas in the California desert. Christmas dinner in Palm Springs will be memorable for sure.

Ooooooooooooh! I love it! We've actually been looking for places for our winter getaway. I would love to go somewhere frou frou shi shi. In my life before marriage, I used to LOVE traveling and staying in amazing hotels. Then I married a farmer. LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou've almost convinced me to make a trip to Palm Springs. The only thing that will seal the deal is if you tell me that naked, well hung men bearing gifts (diamonds) will greet me when I step off the plane.
ReplyDeletebottleblonde- LOL...not QUITE sure I could arrange for that request!
ReplyDeleteI would love the idea of eating Christmas dinner outdoors, how cool would that be?
ReplyDeleteCold? Snow? Where is it cold? It's 70 degrees in Georgia! I've been wearing short sleeves all week and had the air conditioning on! ;) But a visit to Palm Springs does sound fun!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...you know, temps here have been hovering in the 50s for several days. As much as I hate the cold, I've been enjoying it because it's a lovely break from our usual hot temps, so I think I'll stay put.
ReplyDeleteI do, however, love looking at the snow on your mountains. Our surrounding mountains are too small to have gotten snow from our latest rounds of rain, but our high country got pounded with snow. I wish I could go skiing!
I remember sitting out in the jacuzzi in mid-December back when I lived in California...but I always wished for snow. Not that we get a lot of that here in Spain, only occasionaly, and for some reason usually not at Christmas.
ReplyDeleteJust curious....but do you have an identical twin that shills for Palm Springs, Florida? That would make a great soap opera plot.
ReplyDeletenice photo.
ReplyDeletewhen i lived in Pasadena as a kid, we had snow and ice one year. it didn't look as cool as that. i should have asked my parents to move to a cooler zip code.
cheers!
well rick, i really would, but you know i have that pesky CRUISE to go on and all!!! ha ha ha

You have more snow than south central Alaska, and nice weather. I am puce green with envy!
ReplyDeleteAs long as I'm not cooking that suits me just fine!
ReplyDeleteCheers
This is my calling card or link"Whittereronautism"until blogger comments get themselves sorted out.
Oh, it looks so beautiful. The snow and all. I must go back, and now would be the season!
ReplyDeleteHow long is the drive from LA again? Two hours?
Hey thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteI like the look of your local restaurants. We nearly visited Palm Springs one year but couldn't quite squeeze it in. Now I know it will be worth it next time!
Ok....here I come!
ReplyDeletePeace
I love Johannes and Melvyn's. I hung out at Melvyn's with Pink Martini once. Just a tip to anyone planning to try out a Palm Springs boutique hotel over Christmas: book as far ahead as possible. The holidays book up very quickly. I used to work at Korakia, and we were generally booked up for Christmas and New Year's Eve by Halloween.
ReplyDeleteSpencers looks most appealing with its warm ambience, outdoor seating and mood lighting. Very laid back without being too casual, I guess.
ReplyDeleteok I am TOTALLY innnnnn...it is hard for me to remember that there are places this time of the year that actually can step outside the front door without 6 layers of clothing...lol
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those winters here that makes Canadians wish they had a polar bear to ride to work..lmaooooooo.
Amazing pics...when do we eat?? LOL
It almost looks like a photoshop picture with the snow covered mountain behind the palm trees. Not over the snow here.....yet. ;-)
ReplyDeletetheresa- the hottub at night inthe winter is one of my favs here!
ReplyDeleteelasticwaistband- no but I should clone myself!
minijonb- thanks, and that was withmy crappy camera too!
Bee- OK, Ok you can GO on the cruise...I'll be sad without you here tho!
ReplyDeleteTea- it just looks that way...but the snow won't last too long.
WAT- we're just 90 minutes from LA. one of these days you should come out to visit.
Palm Spring does look awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting these pictures!
Lovely photos. I wanna go. We have snow predicted this weekend. It's cold here.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about Christmas in Palm Springs. There is no place better in the world any time of year.
ReplyDeleteI think I've written that I was in PS once and fell in love with it. A visit anytime would be a wonderful thing.
