Exploring Palm Springs: Things Around Downtown

I receive a lot of e-mails from people asking all sorts of questions about Palm Springs. I have been writing about the desert here on this blog for some time and share all kinds of information that I find interesting. This photo above is on route 111 at the entrance to Palm Springs proper. It offers sweeping views of the mountains surrounding downtown. A few days ago I went for a walk downtown and took a few photos to share what you would see downtown along Palm Canyon Drive.
Above: horse drawn carriages provide romantic views of the city, and are a lot of fun.

Above: The retail shops along Palm Canyon Drive are mainly tourist stores- here are two prime examples, "Rich & Famous Celebrity Jewelry Salon" and "Art of Hollywood", which sells all sorts of memorabilia.
Casual Dining Downtown
I usually write about the fine dining restaurants in Palm Springs, but here are a few moderately priced places to eat...
Above: Las Casuelas Terazza is a popular Mexican restaurant with live music nightly and delicious margaritas.
Above: Two great burger joints with wonderful patio seating. left is Grill-A-Burger, right is Tyler's.

above: La Mariposa at the charming Mercado Plaza. These musicians provided a romantic environment for dining al fresco.

Above: The Village Pub is a popular hot spot with a loud patio bar for brews and pub grub.
No matter what your preference for food, there is something for everyone in downtown Palm Springs. I guess that's why I like it so well.

  2. I think I would love this town, as I like spending as much time outdoors as possible. All those restaurants you show all had wonderful patios

  8. La Mariposa reminds me of a place that my family ate at in Mexico 25 years ago. I still dream of it. . .
