The Saturday Seven: Tips to Go Green With Your Pet

Earth Day is Tuesday April 22nd, which is just next week. I wanted today's Saturday Seven post to be something Earth friendly and useful. Next week, a flurry of green-related posts will fill the Blogosphere; and since I work in the pet industry I thought it would be fitting to focus today's post on how you and your pet can go green together. I wish to disclose that I have borrowed some of this content from the website of the pet company I work for. Some of the content was provided to us by Pet Promise brand pet food. As always, these are my personal opinions, and has no affiliation to my employer. Now onto the topic at hand- Did you know that your pet can have an impact on the planet? This brings me to another scintillating edition of:
The Saturday Seven: Tips to Go Green With Your Pet

1. Buy a natural pet food made with proteins raised without growth hormones or antibiotics, chemicals and doesn’t contain any animal byproducts.

2. Use all natural cleaning products around the house to clean up after your pet that are free of toxic chemicals.

3. Choose eco-friendly pet grooming products made without phosphates, sulfates and other chemicals.

4. Pick eco-friendly pet toys made from organic or recycled materials.

5. Use biodegradable doggie poop-bags to clean up after your dog on walks.

6. Purchase alternative forms of kitty litter made from recycled material such as newsprint.

This site is about my personal opinions, experiences and stuff I am interested in. Nothing on my blog is ever a paid post. From time to time I express a personal opinion about natural, holistic and organic dog and cat food brands. As the author, I am writing this with no affiliation to my employer, although I am a dog food merchandise manager and have an excellent knowledge of pet foods. There are many kinds of natural, holistic, organic and super premium dog and cat foods available. When looking for a natural, holistic or organic pet food it is important to first consider the needs of your pet. What are you feeding now? Are there any issues that your pet is having? How is your pet's skin and coat? healthy? Shiny? Does you pet have any digestion issues? Always consult your vet if you notice any serious problems. In my personal opinion, if you want some of the best natural and holistic pet foods available, try brands such as Natural Balance, Natural Ultramix , Organix, Halo, and Pet Promise.

  1. Hi Rick :)

Wouldn`t it be a great world if there was only organic. At one time that`s how it was long long ago...

  2. Hey Rick - Spooker won't use the nuggety-kind of kitty litter like the newsprint ones, or Feline Pine. I've seen a magazine ad for a new version of Feline Pine that is granular, and scoopable. Any word on this product?
Great eco-friendly pet advice - Happy Earth Day Weekend!

  3. I just started buying that brand of food for my cat, she really likes it too. I use recycleable corn cat litter which works pretty good.
