Mmmmmm Chocolate Cake

Chocolate Cake. It's what's for breakfast. And Lunch. And Dinner. Well, that's what it would be if I were King of the World. I must be cut from the same cloth as Empress Bee, of the High Sea, who also loves cake. I've been tempted a few times to fly out to see Bee and go on a bakery crawl...you know, visit a bunch of bakeries, cafes and pastry shops sampling cake all day. I know Bee will understand what I mean. I was so desperate for cake this week that I baked one for myself, and have been enjoying it daily. It's not the prettiest cake, and it is nothing fancy, but it it delicious, rich dark chocolate cake. Mmmmmmm Chocolate Cake, anyone up for a slice?

  1. Forget about my imaginary trip to see you and swim in your pool and visit the great places of Palm Springs. I will go and dive into your chocolate cake, instead!

Have you had the cake with the chocolate shavings that was a hit a few years ago?

  2. Oh-- I love your pics! When did Regis find Joy? The picture of Loni Anderson is wonderful-- is she as nice in person as her pictures seem? She is a sunshine person.i don't think it's just her blond hair that makes her radiant-- her smile is very real! (Or is it her company that makes her so smiling so beautiful?)

  7. I must admit, I'm not really a cake and pie sort of guy. But, I also must make mypoint clear by saying that a HOMEMADE, DELICIOUS, TOP-NOTCH cake or pie is hot...very hot! And pair it with the word DARK as in chocolate and I'm there. Right there.

  10. it does look a bit unbalanced, but that doesn't matter--what matters is that it's chocolate, and yummy and pass me a slice.

Hmmm, bakery crawl, I do like the sound of that.
You do know that there are some marvelous bakeries out in the burbs of Chicago, right?

    Eclairs
    baklava
    tarts
    cream puffs
    nepolean's
    lemon bars
    muffins
    scones..
    cakes
    cookies
    cookies with black and white
    cookies with big smiley faces

I think I'd better stop now.

but I will tell you this, when you do visit Bee, stop over here too..save some room for chicago's best bakeries.

    yum!

  11. That reminds me of the classic Bill Cosby routine where he feeds his kids chocolate cake and juice (I think it was grapefruit juice but not sure on the flavor now) for breakfast! Too funny as the kids sang "Dad is great, gives us chocolate cake! And as for me -gosh, I'd love a slice of that chocolate cake anytime!
