Palm Springs International Film Festival: A Retrospective of Past Award Winners

With the Palm Springs Film Festival now underway, the city is buzzing from all the excitement from the Awards Gala on Tuesday. The evening was a huge success, in large part because of the turnout of celebrities in attendance. Here are a few more photos from the Red Carpet (freshly borrowed from the Desert Sun) for your viewing pleasure! Above left is Rosemarie DeWitt, who is surprisingly shy and demure.

above left: Zoe Karzan with Paul Dano, above right: Tom Bosley and his wife Patricia. I also saw Kay Ballard and Wiliam Dafoe, who live here in the desert.

I hope you enjoyed this retrospective. Thanks for checking out the past 20 years of Award Recipients from the Palm Springs Film Festival. As you can see by the number of awards, the event has grown significantly since its humble beginnings in 1990. Today it is part of what has made Palm Springs sparkle once again.

  4. I would suspect that, if you took the Myers-Briggs test, you'd be an E for EXTROVERT. I love that I never know who I'm going to see you cozying up to each time I visit your blog. :)

  6. I have a friend who started a Film Fesrival in Taos, NM....I have no idea if it is still functioning, but I do remember how hard he worked to not only get the films to participate but also to get the "Honorees".....Part of what was important to the success of any of these Festivals is the High Profile People the Festival can bring to the Public....It was not easy....!
Palm Springs has done fantastically! I think it helps that the Proximity to L.A. and Hollywood is so close, plus, so very many "Stars", in ALL Catagories, have homes there....
It seems like it is now one of The Major Festivals....This was fun, Rick, and informative, too!

  7. So exciting! Love all your pictures and the stories. I live in a town with Mayo Clinic and sometimes famous people come here. Maybe someday I'll be sitting next to someone famous at one of my local haunts. That would be so cool! It snowed 6 inches last night (so now maybe we have a foot on the ground) and the high today was -3 (now its -8). Hope it makes you feel better!
