The Saturday Seven: Things That Frustrate Me

I've been writing a weekly Saturday Seven post for a few years now, and never tire of creating these lists of random topics with a common theme each week. What's more is the number of e-mails I receive about this column feature. It serves as an inspiration to maintain this popular feature. Even the Google Analytics reports indicate that this feature receives a lot of hits and has subscribers to the topic. And so onto this week's scintillating edition of The Saturday Seven: Things That Frustrate Me. I sincerely hope some of you will weigh in with things that frustrate you from everyday life. Here are my top 7:
#1 Stepping in Gum

#2 Delayed Flights. I travel a lot. Waiting in the airport or worse- being stuck on the plane and having ti sit on the tarmac.

#3 Flat Tires- A starship can have its hull blown apart and a force-field immediately kicks in so the ship can still fly. Can't we develop that same technology for a simple tire??

#4 Waiting in Long Lines- especially at the Post Office with a heavy package

#5 Broken Eggs.

#6 Broken Shoelaces
- of course it never happens when you have plenty of time to spare.

#7 Empty Tube of Toothpaste- For some reason this drives me crazy. You spent the last few days being very pleased with yourself on being able to still get more out of the tube. Then suddenly one day there just isn't anymore to give. Then I get frustrated.
What little annoyances of life frustrate you? C'mon, leave a comment and let's spice this up!

  1. good list. it drives me CRAZY when there are kids running around at the store when I shop. some mothers just don't look after their kids. Meanwhile mine stay with me the whole time and watch in horror, secretly yearning to run around too.

  2. Let's see -- aside from the (*&^ rabbits munching my garden, self-centered, unconscious-that- there-are-people-all-around-them types really frustrate me. Oh, and people talking on cell phones while driving, unable to pick a lane and stay in it...And, (I think I better stop there). :) Thanks, Rick. I needed that!

  5. Ah, Rick, this comes just in time for me to release a good rant (thanks!): people who do not have the courtesy to RSVP...
I just had a party in my home for a friend and was expecting 25. The DAY OF the event all "those people" (you know, the ones who decided at the last minute that they had nothing better to do) decided to come...15 called to say they were coming but more did not offer even that short notice.
Of course I then ran short on seating and ice. Everyone could have had a better time if they had any manners, and I could have been a much more gracious host. One hates to depart a party in ones own home, especailly when they are the SOLE host, to make a run to the grocer for ice, and to hear one's guests complaining to said host DURING THE PARTY. Do they wonder why they don't get invited back(hahaha)?
My next party is the 28th, I've got ice ready and picking up chairs tonite, looks like it will be over 70 people in my humble abode and I pray the AC can keep up! I have 9 guests who I have contacted 3 times that have not bothered to reply, and the deadline was JUNE 7th. Hopefully they will read your blog (LOL!) and find the inspiration to do so.
Thanks for letting me release that so i can move on. Have a great weekend!

  6. Dental assistants who prop open my mouth then put a try in to take an impression then ask me, "So where are your kids?" Aside from the fact that it's none of their business, they then want to knwo my life story. That drives me nuts. Dental assistants should be banned from mindless chatter and just do their jobs.

  7. well, ditto to all that.! being on hold when calling a business, and then taking forever and being difficult to get a human on the phone, where are the humans?!! being cut off while driving when there is no-one behind me - that happend twice to me today.

  10. Stepping in gum is the one that irritates me most Rick! Standing in a post office queue with a heavy package comes a close second!
