Furry Friends are Fun

This morning I was watching the two poodles and cat run around the house like complete maniacs, chasing each other, playing and having an all-around great time together. It made me smile seeing them so happy together. At times it was like a high speed train, just blur of fur whiring past, with the occasional squeal, elongated me-ows and gentle barks as the three of them ran back and forth. Whenever I thought it was getting a bit too rowdy, I’d shout out their names and tell them to calm down. They would slam on the brakes and stare at me as if I were crazy. I could almost hear them say “Aww dad, we’re just playing!”. Just a short while later, the three of them were curled up together asleep, resting in total bliss, content with the companionship of each other. It reminded me how important companionship really is throughout the animal kingdom. Most people, dogs, cats, birds, baboons, whatever- all seek companionship. I can’t imagine our lives without a pet. When things get stressful, there is nothing like a kitty asleep in your lap to calm you down. Or being greeted by a wagging tail by a grateful dog to see you again. The stress just drains right out and makes you feel grounded again.

If you don't have the companionship of a pet today get one. You'll be amazed how much they enrich your life. The shelters have so many dogs and cats that need a good home right now, there are plenty from which to choose to meet your lifestyle and home. So don't be lonely or bored- do what the rest of the animal kingdom does, find a furry friend and snuggle!

So true, but alas I'm allergic to furry animals and live in a no pet building, so I'll stick with hubby instead...

:-D)

I love my two girls, and love to watch them play too. My life would be empty without them.
I enjoyed reading your post here! :)

i can very easily see the benefit and i recall especially for my grandparents when their health deteriorated at the end and they coudl not get out, their cat really was a source of joy for them.

i'm allergic to cat and dogs but i have advocated to get a lizard or a snake. not furry but they are cuddleable in their own way.

Ah yes, pets are great! We had several additions to our family here this past Friday night -like six little kittens! Yes, the darned Mama cat that had the litter of four back in April got out before Mandy could get her to the vet so guess what? Now we have 8 cats total! Want a new kitten in about 8-10 weeks? I'm not totally happy about the six new ones but then again, am not totally sad or mad either as they are cute little things -sort of anyway, right now. And the grandchildren -well they are loving the new additions and are actually doing quite well about listening to our admonitions to not touch them constantly too! So far, so good in that department! Now to begin the serious WORK of trying to find homes for all of 'em!

I can just imagine the fur flying! I love watching animals play. I think it's funny how they are always just the right amount of rough and gentle with each other. It's just adorable.

Some kids came to my door the other day giving away kittens and if I wasn't moving, Maisy would have had another playmate! I am getting her another kitten as soon as we are able to when we get to St Louis!!

Oh, I've had so many pets and miss having one now. My health makes it too difficult to care for a pet, but one day...one day...for now I will relish your stories!

I so agree with you Rick....There is nothing like having your Cat or Dog snuggle with you! They enrich one's life in an immeasurable way...Unconditional Love is their great great gift to you!

I can't imagine not having a dog or cat to share my life. I have two cats right now, but I miss having a dog. I lost my two to old age a couple of years ago. I will add a dog to the family as soon as he or she finds us. All my pets have been strays that have shown up at my house and decided to stay.

Now that I have the two dogs, I don't know how I did without them...as opposite as they are (a pug and a yorkie)...they play nice (haha) and settle down to naps together and look for each other when one is out of sight.
Peace
