above: the back entrance, where limousines pull up to drop off guests and visitors.

above: The main lobby, decorated in a grand old style. It is my favorite part of the hotel.

above: some of the grounds at night.

above: the hotel pool is the scene for a hip bar/lounge area, with pumping music and an acrylic bridge spanning over the pool.

above: just down the road from the hotel are these landmarks: The old El Capitan theatre and Hollywood Guinness World Records.

above: The Ripley's Believe it or Not building...with a dinosaur on the roof!
Of course there is much more to Los Angeles than this area, but I thought they made for fun photos. Thanks for stopping by.

I wish I had gone into the hotel lobby, instead of looking at it from across the street at the theater - which I still refer to as Graumann's. Does that date me, or what?
You live the good life, Rick. Someday perhaps we'll have a drink together.
Kenju- next time you go, do check it out!
Corky- I'll hold you to that!!!
The actor in me will always love NYC more. LA ain't my bag. I like grit. I'm not pretty nuff for LA---but YOU are! Look at that tux.
That lobby is so elegant!!
Ah, our old neighborhood. We lived on Orchid about 100 feet from the rear loading dock at Hollywood & Highland, where I was a security supervisor. Dorian and I would occasionally wander into the Roosevelt and have a drink.
I've met a handful of the people you have in your sidebar pics.. I think I've mentioned that before.
And right up the hill from your favorite Hotel, is me! When are you going to come and visit, Rick? This is my neighborhood! I have spent many many MANY hours at The Hollywood Roosevelt, through a number of incarnations...and Renovations....It is amazing how it came back "in style" and once again became THE place to be seen....The Ups & Downs of Hollyweod! You better get on up here, soon, dear Rick.
It all looks so familiar...
