Things That Matter To Me

These past few weeks I've had a lot of things going on that have occupied my time and thoughts. All good stuff, but I've just been preoccupied with work and career transitions. John and I are grateful to have pets in our lives, they really make things better in every way. Just as an example, the other day I was out running errands, busy with all kinds of trivial things. I was on the go with my head down, not taking the time to smell the proverbial roses, That is, until I returned home and was confronted by Sheldon and Duncan. There they stood, side by side, peering through the side gate- tails wagging in full swing. It was at that precise moment when I was reminded how great these dogs are and how much they mean to me. Poodles are especially smart creatures, experience emotions and "connect" with people in a unique manner. They were so happy to see me return home, it melted my heart. I've said this many times here- dogs make life better. It occurred to me that I've neglected the poodles lately being busy thinking about work. Despite this, dogs love you unconditionally and are always happy to see you. I remembered just how much Sheldon and Duncan mean to me. They are an important part of our family.

above: Here are Sheldon and Duncan relaxing on the sofa next to each other. I'm grateful to have been reminded about the Things That Matter To Me, like my two poodles. What matters to you? What pulls you though the week?

Your two poodles matter to me too, just so you know. I've even met one of them. Handsome devil.

Barry Manilow was on The Tonight Show last week. He's tall.

Random, that.

I swear, it hits me every once in a while that Mason (all doggies!) relies on me 100%...for entertainment, for food, water, walking, playing, sleeping, care, vet trips, love, the whole gig. If I relied on him that much, I'd be standing at the gate looking out too.

Your kids are just soooo cute!

I always get a warm and fuzzy feeling when I see pictures or watch programs of all kinds of pets.

I don't unfortunately have any of my own at this time due to hectic living in London and long working hours. But my flat mates cats always cheer me up too when I get home after a long day :)

Things have been pretty difficult around here, too, but what helps is when my 20 month old grand daughter says, "Hi Kath, I hold you?"

My two boys, 3 and 5, running to me and giving me kisses when I walk in the door at night. Laughter in the face of any obstacle or joy and great friends who have my back.

My Dear Cat Sweetie....He is so very dear---a reason to get up in the morning...! They say cats are aloof--Well, not my Sweetie! He really and truly helps get me through life, especially, as I know it now.

They're too innocent to know that you have things on your mind, so pay attention!!! lol. Sometimes it's hard, I know..I have two boys too...they get me thru the rough periods and I love them to death!

My two cats matter to me. I don't have human children, so they are my kids. It's been proven that pets are good for people. I lost my two dogs to old age a couple of years ago and I miss them terribly. Until another adopts me, I spoil the neighbor's dog.

they wait for us to come home, and no matter the day, they give us undying love and admiration. Sheldon and Duncan are full of love and admiration for you. it is obvious.
My girls june and summer pull me through, they go with me to work, and their little smiling doggie faces happy to greet me and kiss me, waggin those tails, is what makes my day. and we drive home after a long day, and they still love me and I adore them. and then we snuggle through the nite, that love I can't replace. My best friends.

While my husband was deployed, the dog decided it was his job to always watch over me. He was (and continues) never to be more than a few feet away. He rides in the car with me, he sleeps next to me too. We eat together, and when the dogwalker is off --we take long, slow strolls together. What I realize is that I'm very honored to have his a friend so loyal and accepting.

The boys look so cute waiting at the gate for you! I wonder what was going through their minds as they watched you take out a camera and take a photo.....
