Frivolous Friday: Dinner in the Sky!

It's Frivolous Friday, so it seemed like a good day to blog about "Dinner in the Sky". It's an unusual place you can have dinner (or any meal) at a table suspended 150 feet in the air by a massive crane. Dinner in the Sky can accommodate 22 people around the table, with three staff, the chef, a waiter, and an entertainer.

Check out these interesting stats:

  • Total weight of the table: 11,000 pounds
  • Weight of the crane: 160 tons
  • Measurement of table: 30' x 16'
  • Rotation angle of the seats: 180°
  • Number of dinner guests seated (four-point seat belts): 22

Here's the kitchen

and here's what it looks like from below, looking up:

And you can see the piano player off in the distance, suspended also...

Dinner at night...hopefully no one needs the restroom...

...hold on to your napkin!

...and here's one last amazing view...

Anyone hungry for dinner in the sky??? Happy Friday all!

That would be kinda neat.

OMG. Are they insane! If I had dinner up there the diners wouldn't hear the pianist. Not with me yelling, "GET ME DOWN!" every five seconds.

That does not look like fun at all!

Bee/Seamus- tell me about it! I always hit the restroom AFTER I order but BEFORE I eat. I'd have to bring some purell, because I always wash my hands before dinner.

The thought of this absolutely terrifies me. I would just cry (I'm afraid of heights). I had dinner at the revolving restaurant here in town the one that's 72 stories high and I had a hard time sitting next to the window. LOL.

not for me. I'd have to pee and I'd probably toss my cookies (and we're not talking dessert!)

Looks like a blast to me! But I KNOW I'd have to pee!

"Umm, Mommy? I have to go to the bathroom." My kids under 10 would each have to go. One at a time. They are well behaved but I have to watch them lest the five year old bops people's chairs and then the four year old sees it and has to attempt to bop them on their heads.

I'm just not ready for Dinner in the Sky.

Yeah, I won't be going there.

*shudder* Never in a million years!

It's a great idea but I'll never do it.

Oh my goodness!!! Great post, but that is CRAZY!! LOL! Perhaps my deathly fear of heights will prohibit me from ever trying anything like this! LOL! ;)

Great photos, btw!

Great idea, probably for the thrillseekers who've gone bungee jumping. So you won't see me there.

What if it's a windy day? And what if you drop your knife?

I can't imagine anyone in the universe able to pay me enough to do that. I would be in total panic attack mode.

Where is this? Looks like Europe somewhere ... It does not make sense if there is not a bathroom; if there is one, I'll go.

No! Too scary.

This looks amazing Rick. Unfortunately I don't think I would want to eat at that height. Looks a bit scary and there aren't any toilets up there!

Okay, I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to heights—especially when it's a man-made structure we're talking about (don't trust 'em). But, I have to say, that looks like one amazing dinner. I'd be very tempted to dine there if the opportunity presented itself. So, the only issue we have remaining is this: Are the prices sky-high?
