Summer time in Palm Springs: 3 Easy Steps to Keep Cool

Well, there is no question about it, summer is definitely here in Palm Springs. Since May it's been hitting a high of hundred degrees, which is seasonal for the desert. However, this week is shaping up to be an especially hot week. Here is the forecast for this Tuesday:

Hot. Temperature near 100 in the morning. The temperature will be near 120 in the afternoon. Clear and very warm (89) during the evening. Clear and very warm overnight. (For those of you using Celsius, that's a high of 49 and a low of 30!) But I don't complain. I actually like the heat.

Keeping cool is easy! Here is my revolutionary 3 step program to stay cool and survive these hot summer days:

#1 A Shady Spot: a corner of the yard with some shade and misters. Here in our dry desert climate, misters drop the temperature by as much as 15 degrees. Or, alternatively you could always find a "Mr" to fan you and feed you grapes.

#2 A Refreshing Pool: either for dipping or laps, as long as it gets you wet!(the pool, that is)
#3 Refreshing Cocktails: Frozen or on the rocks, after a few of these you won't worry about the heat (or anything else for that matter).
Have any other tips for keeping cool? leave a comment and share your ideas~

I'll pass on the heat and will just have the pool, the cocktails and a nice mister who will feed me grapes, thank you.

Being that I am living in AZ where its going to be a lovely hellish 117 degrees this week...

I find constantly freezing my undergarments helps.

I also drink alot. ALOT.

I also am in the current market for a Cabana boy. ;p

I agree with Bettina...cabana boy with the fan and grapes work for me. how about a large floppy hat?

Those are all good ideas, but I prefer the old fashioned stay inside in the air conditioning to keep cool. LOL

Our temps here aren't going to hit triple digits, but we do have outrageously high humidity to make up for it.

i told you, you were hawt crock, but you are really hot. when i was in az a few weeks ago it was already 108. no thanks.

palm, i really have no suggestions for keeping cool. if i knew i would help, but since i don't even have an ac, i am a bitch to deal with. i am coming to work tomorrow (by myself) just to sit under the air. what about the children you ask? the littel bastards can fend for themselves! ahahaha. i kid

Oh no, that's way too hot for me. I'd be passed wilted and right on into dead, even with the frozen drinks and misters.

I have no other tips besides the ones you suggested. I live in hot and humid Louisville, where the best solution to the humidity is to stay INDOORS!!! Ha, ha.

Have a good one, Rick.

Your plan for staying cool is perfect. I can't find a flaw!

I think you have it about covered. Though I would have to agree with the others and get yourself a cabana boy with said fan and grapes.

Coming from Africa and knowing heat....there is no real way to keep cool....just keep hydrated;)
Thanks for the comment on my blog:)

Although the cabana boy with accompanying fruit sounds delicious.....my hard-hitting tip for relieving the heat is to head north....way north.

I live north of you in the Central Valley, but it gets a bit warm here when we get into triple digits.

I'm not a morning person normally, but during the summer I like to get up early and dabble among the plants in the yard. It's always cool then.

Your next post is my other way of keeping cool. It seems like nurseries are always cooler than the rest of the city.

I just had to come over to see how I can stay cool during this heat wave. I getting the blender out right now. Shade, pool and frozen cocktails. It works for me. :)
