UPDATE: The Amazing Sea Monkeys

Last Thursday I published a post about The Amazing Sea Monkeys that I am raising at my office. I carefully followed the instructions to raise REAL SEA MONKEYS. It's been over a week now since the first Sea Monkeys hatched, so I thought it was time to provide an update with some exciting photos!

First, I should say that several people at work were all fascinated by the arrival of the Sea Monkeys. Each day since, various co-workers stop by to check-in and see how they are coming along. At first the Sea Monkeys were SO TINY you could barely see them. I was like a proud parent, showing off my tank full of baby Sea Monkeys to anyone remotely interested. By Monday, they were more easily visible, especially because they are so active, swimming around like crazy. After waiting the prescribed five days after hatching, I finally fed my Sea Monkeys with the official "Step 3 Growth Food". They lapped it up like crazy. As of this morning, my Sea Monkeys are quite happily swimming around, exploring the Sea Monkey Castle in their tank. Now don't laugh, I know they look like flecks of dirt. Blame my cheapy camera, but don't ridicule my baby Sea Monkeys, please!

Above: As you can see, they are still small (ok nearly microscopic), but they sure are BIG on personality!
I'm enjoying my Sea Monkeys so much, I may just send away for this nifty Sea Monkeys 2008 Wall Calendar!

So that's what's supposed to happen! As I think I mentioned here before, all I got when I tried to raise sea monkeys was algae. :-(

Sea monkeys always creeped me out -- actually, pretty much anything creeps me out where neck down is a normal-looking human and above-the-neck's some creepy beast.

So...like, how long are your babies expected to live?

Once they grow up, of course?

Your sea monkeys are simply darling. :)

Mags- Well the instructions claim they can live two years...butI bet Dr Wang would predict a much shorter lifespan...

Does your company sell Sea Monkeys?

Sheila- no, we don't, I bought mine online-I think Amazon but I believe they are sold at some of the big toy store companies as well.

Neil B. had some Sea Monkeys at his desk about 6 months ago. You should stop by next time you're upstairs and see if they are still alive.

this is so cool! I have seen them advertised before and always wondered about them. I remember one time I bought my son an ant farm and we would watch it for hours....doesnt take much to entertain me...lol
