Carol Channing Doll Wins an Oscar

Sunday was the 80th Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood. As always, the star studded event was full of glamour and surprises. Perhaps one of the biggest surprises was an award that did not appear during the televised broadcast. In ceremonies held earlier in the day, an Academy Award was presented to the ever popular Carol Channing doll for a role in a You Tube video.

Photo left: The Carol Channing doll accepts the Oscar for her role in the You Tube performance of "Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend". The award was a complete surprise to the Miss Channing doll, who was thrilled to be recognized for her hard work. "I rehearsed quite a bit for this part and felt like someone was always pushing me, pulling my strings and making me perform even when I wasn't up to it" she said. "But it was well worth it in the end, just to have the chance to have my very own Oscar award". Below is the video that earned the Carol Channing doll the Academy Award:

And for the fans, below is a famous skit that the real Carol Channing has performed many times on stage. It is her "Cecilia Sisson" bit, which is really quite hilarious. Carol, if you are reading this, know that we think you are really the tops!

Wonderful rendition of "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend"! ;) I actually had to think twice about checking it out. I have a really strong fear of dolls!!! Yes, even the Carol Channing doll! I was traumatized as a kid with a giant walking Susie doll, whose eyes opened and closed. I suppose all the horror movies I watched didn't help matters! LOL!

Okay, now that I've gone on a tangent, hope your weekend was a lovely one, Rick!

Jon Stewart ROCKED!

Elizabeth

Did the Carol Channing doll win a blow-up Oscar or a real one?

for clarification to friends...the Carol Channing doll is just a bit of an inside joke. It's sort of become a bit of a wacky recurring character her on the nonsense that is this blog...

When I was a kid I got to see Carol Channing here in Houston starring in her trademark role as Dolly in Hello Dolly. It was fantastic!

On a sidenote.....my 12 year old daughter is a musical fanatic and Hello Dolly is one of her favorites.

She likes to dramatically enter the kitchen and repeat the lines from the famous restaurant scene when the maitre d announces Dolly's arrival except she changes it to: "Who has the biggest appetite in all of Houston City?!!?" "It's Lauren! It's Lauren!"

We are a very strange family.
