Wisdom Wednesdays: Featuring Dr Sidney Wang

ASK DR WANG, the psychic betta fish

This week's e-mail is from Deidre in Cork, Ireland.

Dear Dr Wang,

I was dating a man named Kevin who I thought was the love of my life. We spent nearly every day together since we first met and truly enjoyed our time together. After six months as a couple, Kevin accepted a job offer and moved to Brussels. I wasn't willing to have a long distance relationship so I ended it. Now that he is gone, and I am lonely and regret my decision. I prefer to stay close to my family and do not want to leave Ireland, but am afraid I will be a spinster. All the men in town are either already married or not my type. Is there any chance Kevin move back to Ireland so we can get together again? Will I ever meet someone as special as Kevin again?

Thanks for your time, Deidre

Dr Wang responds: Dear Deidre,

Kevin isn't coming back, so move on. The phrase that comes to my tiny brain is "It's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all". Appreciate what you had together and then forget about Kevin. The Great Bubble Wall indicates that Kevin is likely to be a wanderer and will not return to the Emerald Isle. Prepare for several more months of being single.

You should move on with your life and put yourself back on the singles market. Doing so will enable you to meet a young man who is new to town by the name of either Colin, Carlin or Callum, who has curly red hair and has double-jointed fingers. He can perform a variety of interesting tricks with his hands, and will show-off his skills at the local pub on an evening you are there. He will win a thumb-wrestling contest, which will attract your attention. Much like the waters in my tank, the exact future is murky, but you will definitely meet by midsummer. In the meantime, watch out for any red-headed hitch-hikers along the road that are new to town. You could just get an early glimpse of your next boyfriend with the gifted digits.

Keep swimming upstream,
-Dr Wang

Well, if you hold out for a thumb-wrestling champion, you will at least end up with a guy with opposable thumbs.

Other than that, that was some
p!$$ poor bad advice, right there...

"He can perform a variety of interesting tricks with his [double-jointed] hands..."

I love shadow puppets. I can make a duck talk, and a cat with twitching ears, but nothing disjointed like that.
