So here we are with June in full swing. For some reason I've been inspired to write about random June things...strap yourself in, because I'm about to spin out of control with this post...My "inner 13 year old" wants to start off by breaking-out in song from the Broadway show, Carousel: "JUNE IS BUSTIN' OUT ALL OVER!" as an excuse to include this photo:
(get it?...her name is supposed to be "June" and she is "busting out.." oh well nevermind, it's an old joke)
A few June facts...
* June is of course, the sixth month of the year in the Gregorian calendar, with a length of 30 days (but you knew that already)
* June is named after the Roman goddess Juno, wife of Jupiter.
* June's flower is the rose or honeysuckle.
* June's birthstone is the pearl, Alexandrite, or moonstone.
And did you know that June is National Safety Month, so don't slip on any banana peels or stick your fingers in an electrical outlet! Safety first in June!
The JUNE BUG also known as June beetle, is the name for several large beetles seen in the United States during May and June. They are usually seen at night, when the light attracts them. June bugs eat the young leaves of trees and plants. They deposit their eggs in the ground. The young larvae bury themselves in the soil in the autumn and stay there two years. They then come out in late May or June as adult beetles.
And finally...a few women named June:
